I know Depression can cause difficulty in concentration and attention. So what are the main differences between the inattentive type of ADHD and poor concentration due to depression?

Hi,

I don't know much about AD/HD, but what my med specialist said to me was that once your mood improves from depression your concentration, focus and memory and attentionare also supposed to improve. If your concentration and attention does not improve once your mood improves, then it's possible that there is an underlying cause that is still hanging around. So, in my case my mood has GREATLY improved but my attention and concentration and memory are still in the toilet, thus suggesting that I be evaluated for AD/HD. Once that is either confirmed or denied then we will go from there....idk if this helps, but this is all I've got

just to add 2 more cents...

I think that there are a TON of symptoms of depression that can run parallel other things like anxiety, ad/hd etc and I think that once depression is successfully treated then you will be able to clearly see any other residual symptoms, if any, that are still lingering--these may be related to a completely other issue, like AD/HD....still don't know if this makes any sense...but hope it helps.
