I am a 25 year old mother of a 3 year old boy. I took Adderall while in middle school and high school, it worked great. I figured ADD was only a childhood problem. Well I am finding out differently, I stay at home and it is nearly impossible for me to keep up the housework, I cant get out of my own way. I no longer have health insurance, does anyone know of someone I can see about starting medication again, that wont cost me an arm and a leg.

Do you have a family physician who could prescribe your meds? Some of the older stimulant drugs like Ritalin (methylphenidate) are very cheap while newer ones like Adderall XR and Strattera can cost several hundred dollars for a month's supply.

ADD continues through life. I take Adderall and it works for me also. ADD is generic and if it works for you, you need to get help. Are there any social services that you can contact in your city?

I called the county to see if they could refer me to anyone low cost that could help me out, absolutely no luck. Apparently I need to be of a particular racial group, pregnant or have an STD to recieve any help. Since none of those apply to me they wouldnt even see me. So I decided to go to the doctors office that I have gone to since birth. I havent been to the doctor in about 5 years (no need) So I am now considered a new patient and am required to pay $200 for the first visit and $100 for each visit after that. A 10 minute appointment. I guess being well is frowned upon in the medical world.
Also, one of the clinics that wouldnt see me for the reasons above, they have a trans gender clinic for the poor. They dont have time for me because they are helping someone get a weiner???? I think something is a little wrong in this world.

There's a few things that I can't remember what they're called, but if you're in the US and you qualify for them, they're free (the cards, not the meds unfortunately). Google freeRXcard or RX discount card or something, it's along those lines. You get discounts on some things at most major pharmacies. I think they're supported by your county if I remember correctly.

ADHD isn't just a childhood affliction. It will continue into adulthood. Generic adderall isn't that expensive, but it depends on the pharmacy. Stay away from large chains like CVS and Rite Aid. They tend to be the most expensive. I got my adderall at a mom and pop pharmacy and there was a $200 difference between what CVS wanted for the generic and what the mom and pop pharmacy charged me. I take 20mg of adderall 3 times a day and a months supply (90 pills) costs me $40.
