i am bipolar and was complaining to my doctor about lost focus and not being able to get things done around the house. she put me on a med called straterra. alot of people in my family have add but im not sure if i have it. and if i do how do i get diagnosed. PS she was my old doctor i go see a new one in JAN

My understanding is that strattera is an ADD/ADHD med but lack of fucus and inability to get things done can also be part of bipolar. I would ask your new Doc about a referral for testing when you see them in Jan.

Bipolar and ADHD often overlap. It is possible to have both, as I do. Discuss your concerns about possibily having ADHD (with/without hyperactivity) and he/she will do the appropriate testing needed to confirm the diagnosis. Good luck

I have both. first, I got Ritalin for my ADHD- increasing the dose to desired effect. After a depression, I started on Lamictal.
A stimulant should be first choice for ADHD. Now, I feel better than ever ![]() |
