I a long time ago I was diagnosed with ADD before there was an ADHD diagnosis. After some searching I belive I have had depression and PTSD for many years. Now, how does someone know if its ADD/ADHD they have or depression,PTSD or other disorder they have. They do share some very similar symptoms.

Yeah, there is definitely some overlap there, and I think each of these problems can contribute to the others. Have you seen a therapist lately? If you're really concerned about your dx, maybe you can just see a mental health professional and get your questions answered quickly.

burton, interesting thread for me. i've always sworn that i live with ADD. it fits me to the tee. however, t says no, that it's the hypervigilence associated with the PTSD. so, as ben said, i guess there is the overlap that make some symptoms similar or same.

i've been where you're at, and suggest that you do see a therapist and see where it goes from there?

i wish you luck. let us know?

The dx of add/hd is extremely difficult in adults as there is no scientic method and because it is complicated by the high level of co-morbidity with depression, anxiety, Bipolar Disorder and very others. You may find the following articles at the URLs given below of assistance.
