My daughter was just prescribed focalin for ADHD. She's been on it two or three days, and has just started having violent mood swings, crying, screaming, anger, depression. Anyone else have this experience with this drug? We've a call into the doctor to see what to do next.
Thanks. |

Dayton52,
I was on Focalin for a while and I experienced all of those symptoms. Not all at once, but I was having bouts of depression and anger issues mostly. Focalin is a stimulant and has a lot of complications. There are a lot of other drugs for add/adhd that may be a better fit for her than Focalin. I am pretty sure that I have tried every add/adhd drug out there and finding a fit can take a while. Make you tell the doc all of the side effects and he/she will probably presribe a new medication. Good luck, Crazyman28 |

My PNP prescribes focalin a lot for ADHD so she must like it for certain patients for some reason. She does not prescribe it for me, though. (I am on Vyvanse.) I am glad you have called your prescribing doctor. Keep in close touch with him/her about the side effects your daughter is having. The doc will want to know so he/she can make changes if necessary.
FWIW, I have taken a couple of different psych meds and had a horrible first few days on them, but them the side effects went away after that.
