I'm taking a break from one of my ADHD meds, Vyvanse. I'm having such issues with my sleep right now that I'm trying to help by doing various things like cutting down on caffeine. (I fall asleep OK, but can't stay asleep for more than a few hours. The total hrs I sleep each night has plummeted.) I feel like I've done all the obvious things, so I'm stopping the Vyvanse to see if I get better sleep without it. I just finished the summer quarter at school and have 5 weeks before Fall quarter starts, so it seems like a good time to experiment with a break from Vyvanse. I've never felt it kept me up before, but maybe it is contributing to my current sleep problem. I take a second med for ADHD, Wellbutrin, and I moved this prescription to the AM instead of PM. Maybe that will be less stimulating for me.
Has anyone else found that their ADHD prescription affected their sleep? I am not sure mine is contributing to my poor sleep and I wonder if others have this?

Not noticing any effects of the drug holiday, good or bad. My sleep is still the same even without the stimulant. I had suspected as much, because I have never felt that my Vyvanse kept me awake. I guess the good news is that I haven't felt much impaired at all by not taking the Vyvanse. Maybe I don't need this stuff, at least while not in school.

Did you take the drug holiday with, or without the doctor's help? As I understand it, the medical profession don't approve of drug holidays anymore, if you want to reduce you should do so gradually.

With stimulants, you don't really need to taper down the amount of drug you take because they have short half lives and don't remain in your system for long. They're not like SSRIs. So, no worries. But, thanks for your concern! I'm doing OK except for the sleep problem. I'm trying different things (like the holiday from Vyvanse) to see if I can solve this problem. I did go see my GP about the sleep problem last week but he was no help, so it's up to me.

I didn't take any stimulants for 8 days and my sleep was not improved at all. I took my stim today, though, as I have noticed a drop off in motivation and ability to get things done. I need to get stuff done today, so I took the med! Kind of pathetic, but it is what it is.
