yep ...I reckon you got it...I cheated!

I looked it up...

LIFE : the condition which distinguishes animals and plants from inorganic objects and dead organisms. ....(doesn't really do it for me)

but I suspect we want to know more accurately..the meaning of 'meaning' itself?

that short list you got there is just the beginning of a bottomless pit of 'meaningless' ...I agree with you.

wow you got my synapses firing

do 'things' mean what we want them to mean?...and if so why?
do things mean what those around us seem to make them mean...and what do they get out of it?
do things mean whatever they are going to mean anyway..and if so what does that mean?
do things mean something meaningful or something meaningless?..and is there a difference?

aaaah! mental spasm

I will return

"Meaning" is "judgment" and judgment is only in the mind. Life simply is. It's our egos that demand "meaning" from it so that we can get an image of ourselves from it. Life must have a meaning that we can use to parade around.

But life existed before I was alive and will exist after I'm dead. Life did just fine before I tried to take control over it and is doing just fine after I "let go".

...actually I do know what I'm thinking about!

but the part of my mind that knows this,...it needs another part of my mind to explain it...and currently that part of my mind is beyond pre-occupied....launching thoughts like unguided missiles.

the part of my mind that figured all that out is like an irrelevant tiny spectator in the whole pointless production.

it's 2.30am and I cannot find the 'off' button....it's nothing knew...it happens...nevermind
back to bed an wait for it to shut itself down..

I know you do.... We know what's wrong but we also see a huge gap in our ability to know what to do about it. Like a huge puzzle piece that is missing. We can see the gap but not the puzzle piece. We know we don't know, but we can't figure it out so that we do know.

Find this movie "The Truman Show" with Jim Carrey (bipolar, btw). It's a comedy movie about this waking up process.

In my vocabulary, I call that the fragmented mind. Those are the voices in your head and conflicting voices create the confusion. These voices are those of your parents, your teachers, your politicians, your clergy....anyone that told you IDEA about life that you took to be true.

Conflicting ideas are the confusion. The way out of confusion is to test ideas to be able to replace the idea with experience. The idea is a guess but we aren't raised to think of them as guesses....we are raised to live these ideas thinking we can run our lives. We can't, we are life, not the controller of life.

"Let go" means we've realized that we don't control life, that our ideas are not truths and that really we know nothing, but life knows. If we simply allow our gifts to express themselves and if we watch life to see what works and what doesn't work, then life is flowing through us.

That tiny spectator is "you", the consciousness that is watching the circus of the mind. It seems tiny because your mind is so active and so much in control. But your true being is the real giant but a gentle giant. It's a steadfastness that is trying to figure out what this embodiedment is which creates the wonder of "who am I?" Unfortunately the mind takes off on a mission to get the answer but comes up wrong always because the mind can't see the consciousness, it can only see through the 5 senses.

But "you" can "see" you mind, but can you see you? Nope....you can see the expression of you, but you can't see you. A metaphor is your real eyes. You know you have eyes because you can see through them, but you can't see your eyes, but they have to be there because you see the world through them. At a spiritual level, you can see your life play out but you can't see the "eyes" that you are looking through.

This is a great device. My bipolar friend falls asleep within minutes of using it.

...thanks PSH...for aligning my planets there

you know what you are talking about.

If I go unchecked....my thinking is like fastening a machine gun with unlimited ammo in the hands of a baby.

can you visualise the bullets spraying, and the crying, and the dirty nappy?

hehe
Thanks for this!

Awesome...

My metaphor is that your mind is a 1000hp motor strapped to a tricycle....takes incredible intelligence and finesse to drive it well. But it's powerful, not crippled. You are brilliant, not retarded. Your creativity is stunning!

What's missing is a key understanding that sets you free from a negative self image. Ron
