So, I've almost accepted that I have ADD, but not really... I do the whole "scattered" thing, have a hard time sitting down and doing something, tend to forget a lot of basic things, get lost in something 'completely off topic' and I do the whole "oh yeah, I made food three hours ago... and then tried to warm it up an hour ago... and now it's cold again...." thing.

But I also hyper focus on stuff. Mostly stuff I like. TV, or posting, or writing, or crafting. I will just sit and do that for hours without thinking and then realize that I haven't eaten, drunk, or used the washroom in 8+ hours!

The Dx is skeptical but I seem to fit it, and my Pdoc wants to focus on "more important things"... But is this "normal"?

Of course hyperfocusing is normal if you have ADD/ADHD. Many times I'll tell myself that I'm only going to do something - say, go online - for an hour or so. Then I end up so hyperfocused that I end up staying on for three hours. And then I get no sleep. :/ And forget to eat, and that sort of thing.

Ah, if only I could hyperfocus on something productive!

I guess it depends how severe your ADHD is.

I can't focus on anything, nevermind hyperfocus.

I get the sense from your post that you are able to focus on 'fun' stuff like tv or posting on the web, but not able to focus on schoolwork. If that's the case, I don't think you really have ADHD. In ADHD, you can't focus on anything, whether it's something you enjoy or something you don't enjoy. It doesn't matter.
