I think I have ADHD, so I took two tests online, and received the scores 88/100 and 86/100. This means that I probably have serious ADHD. I want to tell my parents so that I can get real tests done, but I don't know how to bring it up. my grades are slipping, and suddenly I am receiving D's and F's. What should I do? (I'm 13 and in JH school)

Hi, sorry to hear you are having troubles with your grades.
You're right, it's really important to get a doctors opinion because there could be something else going on. Sometimes symptoms appear like adhd, but it really is something completely different. It is very important to talk to your parents about what you think is going on. I hope you can find nerve to talk to them and that they are supportive. It is no fun at all to be struggling so hard in school and if it is adhd, then the earlier you find out and treat it the better. Please let us know how it went! ![]() |

If talking is difficult, would it be easier to print out the tests and your post here and shot that to your parents? That would give you something to talk about ... Not just silent to fill.
If the doesn't seem like a good idea, you can talk with a teacher or school counselor. Your parents are going to see these falling grades before long anyway. The teacher or counselor can set up a meeting and all of you can discuss what's happening to you. And what's happening sounds pretty scary. I'm sorry you're having to deal by yourself so far. Parents are best, but school can help you find the right way to talk to them. Please write back and let us know what you think about doing this. Okay? Roadie |
