Hi....I'm a new member and thought I'd blurt here for starters.
I'm about to try a new [for me] med in a few days. It's one I tried before [2010] but had issues with blood pressure so after two weeks had to stop. [massive migraine headaches, blind spots the works] Well the BP has been addressed and is back to normal levels so I'm about to try again. Concerta is the stuff. I've been diagnosed in the past with symptoms related to Avoidance [AvPD] and Schizoid [SPD]. My latest Doc thinks that although there may be aspects of both disorders present there may be reason to believe that Adult ADD may be part of my problem. Hence the suggestion that I try one of the drugs that deals with that. I have in the past tried several of the meds that directly address the personality disorders. [anti-psychotic tranky stuff] The side effects outweighed any benefits and I gave up on them. If I wanted to feel drunk 24/7 I'd as soon be an alcoholic. Yeah that's right the bloody things made me feel kinda drunk all the time...glum drunk and deadened. No good. At least for me. And I tried four different ones. Right now my only med is Wellbutrin as an antidepressant and I seem to tolerate it. My mind is still madly off in all directions mind you but I'm on somewhat of an even keel as far as mood goes. It's tough but tolerable. The two weeks spent on this med was not long enough to notice any difference in my behavior. The dose was low [I think 18mg??] and was to increase at intervals to the effective dose. I can't recall but I think the target dose was 54mg??? Anyway I didn't get beyond the 18mg. I'm very interested in trying this out again. I've changed my healthstyle after recent gallbladder surgery even moreso. Should be easier to keep down the BP and better tolerate the Concerta. [many drugs like Concerta are stimulants and do raise blood pressure so if you have high blood pressure to begin with it's best to fix it first] Or so I've found out. Long blurt huh?...So anyway here it is. On May 9th or so I'll be trying an ADD med for the second time. Successfully I hope. From what I understand it will be Concerta. There are others in the same category but Concerta was the one we'll try first seeing as it was the one I started with. I hates tuh ask....Has anyone had any great success[or failure] with this med in dealing with their own ADD issues? Any info is good info. Thx. |
