Hi.
I'm frustrated. I'm on 60mg of Vyvanse for ADHD and 60mg of Citalopram for anxiety. I haven't taken my medicine in a week and even before this past week I wasn't really taking is regularly since the summer started. Every time I take the medicine, I have this overwhelming urge to DO something. I'm stuck at home every day babysitting my baby brother, so there isn't much I can do. I think it may be a sign of it wearing off because of the time that it happens, but I'm not sure. I want a project. I need to do something that I feel is somehow productive, but I can't find the right activity. I'm artsy and musical and I try a bunch of different things that will satisfy my urge to DO SOMETHING. Today I journaled for a bit and it helped some, but now I need something else. When I'm like this, I feel like exploding. It's like a ball of stress starts building up inside of me, but I don't know what to do. Help. ![]()

Maybe not taking it regularly is the problem? I mean to say that if you're not taking it regularly maybe your system doesn't have the chance to get used to it. The urgency and stress could be normal to experience but if taken regularly might subside.
Might be an idea to take it all regularly for a week or two. Are there reasons you stopped doing that? I know school is done and maybe that's why. Taken infrequently maybe the little side effect you seem to be having doesn't have the chance to go away before the drugs wear off or lessen and then you start again later and the same thing happens. Do you follow my drift? I can't word concepts properly tonight. I'm tryin' tho! BTW thanks for the music therapy group invite! I'll be swinging down there soon for sure. Music...weird language...love it! Sorry B@B...I have an infection in my ear and they gave me these wacko painkillers along w/ the antibiotics. I know what I'm trying to explain but I can't...didn't sleep since yest. either. Anyway another question, under normal circumstances when you're taking them regularly, do you experience some unpleasant side-effects? Is that why you're slowing down on them now because school stuff is done and you wanted a break from the side-effects and didn't require the benefits as much?? Cheers! Hope my 'theory' at the beginning is decipherable! |

You're probably right about the regularity. But This feeling was happening when I was taking it regularly too. You make perfect sense. I stopped taking it so much, because I wanted to know if my weird mood were caused by the medicine or they were just mine, but they continued when I wasn't taking it too... so who knows.

I think my daughter is dealing with this too... She takes 60mg Vyvanse, but since school let out she has been out of sorts. All of the structures and repitition from a routine are gone. After a day at home she is just going stir crazy. I SURE know this feeling... She is like me and does a lot better when there are things that Have to be done. She is even ready for summer band to start, even though she acts like she is not ready for it to begin

I definitely wish there was more structure during the summer. I hate not having it. I feel weird and don't like it. :P I miss band sooooo much!

This is what weekends are like for me if there is nothing "Really" scheduled to do or I'm between Big household projects.
I played in band through my freshman year in college, then quit because I knew I was going to major in "Not Music". I really went into an identity tail-spin for a long time. Being a Bad-*** Bass Bone player was "Who I was", after I quit "Who was I"??? ![]() |

This thread has has lost it's original structure and now you are seeing the annoying results of what it is like to not have structure
![]() I always feel like I have to accomplish something at home. If I don't, I've seen all too often that my wife can be very displeased, unless she does less than I do ![]() ![]() If I'm home on a day without structure and my wife works, my anxieties go cRaZy, because I worry that I have not done enough. I can still lose track of time pretty easily... |

HA perfect example! I do too! I feel as if I've done nothing and one of my parents come home... I will be yelled at! I definitely understand those anxieties!

I try to "Not" do this to my girls, but we don't ask them to do that much so it is hard to not seem upset, especially since these are repeat tasks. One is gather all the trash from the bedrooms and bathrooms, trash day is Monday and Thursday. She gets 1 of 10 times, maybe, without a gentle reminder. I know how hard it is during un-structured times, but come on

Awww I hate that. I'm being payed $100 a week to watch my brother and keep the house clean. She tells me things in the morning, but I have the hardest time keeping up with everything she tells me. I asked her to make me a list, but she never does. She thinks that the things she tells me to do are common sense. She's like "You're not dumb, so it shouldn't be hard to remember", but she doesn't really get my brain apparently... So I've gotten to where she tells me things in the morning and I write them down on a dry erase board as she tells me and repeat them back to her after I'm done to make sure I'm not missing anything.

Great way to adapt! If I did not have Tasks, To-Do's, Reminders, ALL with Alarms set, I'd never get anything done
![]() I "Love" the belittling feeling when I hear "It's JUST common sense"... I get a "Bit" angry when I hear things like that and remind the person that "I'm NOT a mind-reader", and my logic is often better than the Non-ADDer's logic, so they better tell me what they would like to see done ![]() |

I know! I'm extremely smart.... that's how I got through school until college without a diagnosis of ADHD! But you'd think they know by now that I need things done in a way that works for me!

Absolutely! If I'd only known what was wrong with me when I started college. I just kicked myself for not having the discipline to study, like the smart kids
![]() It's great that you are learning ways to keep yourself on track, in spite of the ADD ![]() Reminders, lists and Adderall sure help me... |

Awesome! My daughter likes written calendars and lists. I prefer apps which I can access from my iPhone, iPad or PC
