I'm not totally sure I have adhd, but I have some symptoms. But the question I have is, do you find it hard to grow up? And take things seriously? Also staying on task, and on topic, etc.

Lol... thats funny you ask that.

I can come off as EXTREMELY immature. I get distracted by things and I go off on random tangents about things that no one else finds interesting. I laugh at inappropriate times and I blurt things out that I don't mean. So yes, I think that in a way, I am a child at heart. I know that ADHD can cause as much as a 3-4 yr developmental delay emotionally...

but its so contradictory becuase when I am focused, I am really mature.

Up to about age 30 I acted quite mature, or maybe fake mature. I was quite serious and also quite withdrawn. So even having an odd style and odd tastes I acted quite sane. I lost a lot of social anxiety and basically have no fear of being seen as odd and stuff which really makes me act like a big kid. When I'm not tired or miserable or sick I'm quite horrid. I can be loud and sometimes I simply cannot stop talking.

But it's fine. My best friend is a freak as well and all my other friends have left me.

I am mature to some people. But I find hard to act mature alot of the time. I must have a knack for masking it. because when i am around my friends i am like a 15 yr old teenager lol...

Story of my life. Right now I'm in my room because I was growling randomly during a game of hearts (I'm 18 by the way). I feel like I can't be my true self around anyone

I don't think ADHD has much to do with the wonderful, childish way I sometimes see life. I wish I didn't have ADHD because of all the problems it creates for me, but if a symptom is childishness, I'll keep it

I have noticed something disturbing. Ritalin makes me a more serious and less playful person unless I'm on a bit of Ritalin high (just after intake). I miss my old self even if I don't take Ritalin every day.

I tell ppl all the time that I am immature. I never really thought I was at first, I just thought I was opened minded and fun.

I remember talking to co-worker saying I was a big immature kid even though I was almost 29. She told me that's okay, when you get married and had kids I would mature.
.......I informed her that I have been married for 6 years and have 2 children - she had a blank stare across her face.

But hell, I like being immature and I am a damn good mother so she could kiss my ***.

Ya indeedido I do! My teen daughter sez I am far less mature than she, though she seems to finally be getting used to having an odd mom. I thought it was because when I saw Peter Pan as a kid I promised myself I too would never grow up, but guess it's that kooky ADHD.

Yeah, I act way too goofy sometimes and talk nonsense. It comes and goes, although a lot of the time I'm very mature. It just depends on my mood. Sometimes I let myself be really goofy. It's just part of who I am, thanks to my ADHD.
