HeHe... Keep the cage my friend. My dad built a single seat dune buggy with a VW Bug motor back in 75 that he had balanced and blue printed at 175hp. He was in the trinity river bottoms, had him right hand on the roll bar and rolled the car.
![]() The hand was re-attached and you would never know it happened by looking at it. Safety Rules ![]() My car only weighs 3600 lbs and a German tuned suspension, so it will scoot with 300 hp ![]() |

![]() ![]() People underestimate how important safety is. The cage that was installed in my truck was hand made by a shop next door to my buddies diesel shop. The guy charged me 2000 dollars to have it made. and it was made out of all .120 wall chromoly. the minimum wall thickness for the cage was .090 so he went above and beyond. When I get the truck teched sometimes at tracks. The tech people say it is one of the best cages they have ever seen made. They said if i ever had to. I could go get it certified as it sits and it would be good enough to allow to run 7.50 in the 1/4. I will never get there but it is comforting to know it is that safe. One race seat in the truck with 5 point harnesses. I also added the chest strap to my seat belts so if I ever hit the wall the load will not transfer to just my shoulders. It will be spread across the entire front of my chest distributing the load. Also put a crotch strap in so I do not slide down and out of the seat either. Way over kill. But I really do not care to take any chances. I wanna walk away ![]() Been going to the desert all my life. I have seen way to many accidents. It is just not worth. If people laugh or whatever at me. I usually tell them. You are laughing now until you crash and are all messed up because all you cared about is going fast. But there is more to it then that. Vehicles are replaceable. Lives are not. I would be mad if I ever crashed my truck. But if i get to walk away. That is a good day in my book. I can always rebuild it even if it takes me years to do it. ![]() |

That sounds awesome! I've never raced, legally that is
![]() I don't do anything stupid, because it is not worth it. I did get my 8 minutes by myself at the Texas Motor Speedway in a real NASCAR. Even limited to 5K RPM I got her up to 154 mph. It was amazing. I think I could really drive if I had the time and money. The other guys out there were pathetic. My crew chief stopped talking to me after the first 3 turns and only spoke up the the pro driver was coming up behind me on a turn. Pure Awesome!!!!! |

Yeah...my new piggyback unit just gave me an extra two pounds of boost for an est. 180hp.
Why is everyone staring at me like I'm a child? What do you mean a leaf blower provides just as much boost? ![]() I'll have me some real power one day.....I restored a 74 Nova hatchback a few years back, and that was a darn good time with the added bonus of adrenaline at the end of the project. Never did get a dyno done though.... |
