Can anyone relate? no matter how much caffeine (coffee) i drink or energy drinks, I doesn't affect me. maybe because its a stimulant but not for neurotransmitters so I'm just wondering, what happens to you when you drink coffee?

What kind of reaction are you looking for? The kind of reaction a person without add may have where it peps you up? Or the reaction I was familiar with of having the caffeine tone me down no matter how much caffeine I drank? I use to drink 3 to 5 energy drinks a day, but it never made me feel on the go, just let me clear my head a little bit so I could get stuff done.

Caffeine is a natural stimulant and for adder's it does not work the same way for people without add.

I'm really sensitive to caffeine, especially coffee. I hadn't drank caffeine in years then one if my friends started bringing me strong coffee with a TON of suger. The stuff made me feel sick and scattered my brain even more! Unfortunately I had to stop drinking it even though I love the taste.

Coffee is a great pick me up for me, as I am on several meds which make me tired. My T did a study on coffee and its affects, and she learned it was alot like the chemical equation of cocaine. I can tell when I need more and drink it all day. then i stop around 4 and stop for the rest of the day. I love coffee therefore!!

Be careful with caffeine, no matter how you feel it affects you, you could be a slow metaboliser (take a gene test for it) and too much could damage your heart.

It takes awhile for me to feel any effect from caffeine. I can drink coffee and go to sleep. But if I drink caffeine in the afternoon or even early in the day it will keep me awake.

I'm not affected by caffeine either and I have a diagnosis of ADHD. I've had some nurses in the psychiatric unit say they weren't surprised because they've met many ADHD people who aren't affected by caffeine.
When I used to drink soda/pop, I would drink an entire 2L bottle before I fell asleep every night. In fact, it sometime had the opposite affect than caffeine should on most people. I would find it easier to fall asleep.
Thanks for this!
