Hi, I have ADHD ..and it serious controls my life..college mostly..anyways i am 23 and my insurance is refusing to pay for it since i am over 18...some reps from the insurance say to have my doc call and he has and they refuse to acknoledge him..i really need meds..and I dont know what to do. Anyone else experience this same sort of ordeal? And what should i do. I feel as though they think that ADHD isnt even real like its a made up thing.

Is this medical plan under your parents? - if YES the insurance company has to still cover you as long as you are a full time student, living at home and under the age of 21, some of them cover until you turn 24.

Check the policy..................................!!!!!

Hi! Medicare part D Insurance said "no way" regarding my Cybalta that I MUST have for depression and pain. My Psychiatrist said to the ins. co., "yes way", and forcefully so! I have been cleared for it now. She can be a tough bird when she wants to be.

How hard is your doctor trying in getting this OK'd by the clucks at the inshoorince Co. (Sorry...I don't care for insurance companies!)

Insurance wont pay for any medication!

i and my mother have talked to everyone...my mom is a touch chick and usually gets whatever she wants..we have talked to almost the highest person regarding the prescription and he said that "ameriscript" just has a standard policy and they wont pay for any adhd medication if over 19. my doctor has called four times and he told me today that the most he can do is offer me the presciption of either adderall or statter. One of my friends told me to check more closely into IDEA or CHADD

Here, see if this helps. Maybe e-mail the people running some websites and see if they have dealt with a problem like yours?

http://www.adult-adhd.com/medication.html

Can your doctor call the ADHD something else and use a med that also used to treat whatever else he calls it? (OCD, anxiety, whatever). Sometimes meds work for other problems so he can say you have the other problem and use the med "correctly" for the actual problem you have.
