Ok so I have a laundry list of diagnosis. My PT decided to write me a prescription for ADD/ADHD after trying SSRI's & SNRIs failed. I started taking Focalin XR 15mg a few weeks ago. I see a difference in motivation, energy, concentration, helps my over all thinking in day to day life.
Now I am finding myself with the above as beneficial but I'm starting to catch myself feeling like I am dragging my feet to get things completed. I feel like I have the drive to go but, I cannot get up and go mid way threw the day. I get this burst of energy from med but then I just get sleepy, unmotivated, and bored! I have NO reason to be bored I have a million things to do and get done for school. (I was thinking I was overwhelmed?) I have been doing reading about writing down daily tasks & goals etc to manage ADD/ADHD and I am starting list today for tomorrow. I am interested in has any other adults that have been or on Focalin XR 15mg and feedback how the medication has worked for other adults. I am also interested in how other's deal with their ADD/ADHD. Any feed back is appreciated greatly. |

I am thinking you might ask a pharmacist if this slump sometimes occurs with this drug, if no one else has taken it.

How about giving yourself a few quick victories to build momentum? A long list of undone tasks can be pretty demotivating. How about you choose just three things you're going to do today? Make them specific. For example, instead of writing "Report" on my task list (it's a project that will take weeks), I write "Report - Change charts to reflect 12 months." That way I don't get too overwhelmed deciding how to approach this huge project. I just have to do what's next. Then, when you finish your three things, you can decide to add more or not.

Maybe the Focalin is not playing nice with other meds you take? Your taking the XR version which is extended release so it doesn't make sense that it would behave like that. Most XR meds are meant to give slow but steady results over a period of so many hours, not give a high and then poop out. I would discuss with pdoc and maybe pharmacist.
