Hi guys

My name is Val. I have been learning how to get around the site and finally found my place. I am an undiagnosed 56 yo lady who has had symptoms of ADHD since I was a child. I believe I have it to a tee. I am extremely hyperactive. My body feels like a motor that won't stop running. My mind is fast and my verbal conversations are full of disorganization. This cognition is what I feel got me misdiagnosed with bipolar. I have NO mania. In fact, I am irritable and highly distracted. I am impulsive and have moved and changed jobs over 45 times each!. I have terrible relationship skills. I see a new pdoc soon and I hope he sees my true symptoms so I can be placed on the right medication. I am only on 2 mgs of clonazepam and ambien for sleep. I also have GAD and sleep problems, especially sleep initiation. I welcome any thoughts or comments. Thanks.

Hello, Blindsided, and welcome! I am glad you finally found your site. I usually try to post links when people say "Hello" in the New Intro forum.

Well, we can't say exactly what you have until you get the proper tests done. Do you mean you don't have mania because you don't have a feeling of being high and happy?

Feel free to read here, of course, to see what folks say. My son has ADD, so I come here some.

If you have other problems in getting around, then feel free to click on my name on green. That will send you to my profile page, where you can leave a message.

I hope the docs can get you figured out soon--and on the right meds.

Thanks so much for your reply. I hardly ever feel up or excited about anything. My moods do fluctuate but mainly from either normal or irritable. I don't cycle into high or overly excited moods. I generally stay low. I was diagnosed with dysthymia (low grade depression) but I am not sure if that is secondary to being frustrated most of the time due to my hyperactivity, impulsivity and my shortcomings from underachievement and numerous changes in my life from impulsive actions. So, this is a bit confusing until meds help to rule in the correct diagnoses. Thanks for asking!
