I have ADD without the hyperactivity but have recently realized that its affected my work. I am a second grade teacher and just had my evaluation where my principal said that I don't keep up with the paperwork and the testing of the kids and I'm not on top of all that needs to be done. I know that is true and I've realized that I lose track of all the stuff that has to be done other than just the teaching..has anyone else ever felt that way and if so, what did you do about it.

Hi RENEANNA, I don't have ADD or ADHD but I know a lot about the illness. If you are having problems coping, there are things you need to keep in mind.
1) You are not the illness, you have the illness.
2) Having an illness like ADHD is not what defins how you are or what you do.
3) At the end of the day, all the choices you make are made by you and not your illness. Your in control and you have to take control back if you don't have it not letting ADHD run your life.
4) Meds do help but you are aware of the choices you make in life so self awareness and control of who you are and what you do is half the battle.

Just a fue tips, hope thay help. I'm bipolar and it is a strugle each and every day but unlike in the past, I refuse to let my illness run my life.

Take care, cocoa :-))

I am a paralegal and I live in constant fear of an explosion - missing a date, not doing somethng right, etc. My desk is flooded with files and papers, I am completely overwhelmed. The odd thing is, I really know how to do my job well, when I get around to it. I work with 4 others, they are all completely organized, their desks are neat as a pin, not a paper out of order, and they are just as overwhelmed with work as I am. Everyday I start out thinking that today is the day I get everything organized, take things one at a time, make my to due lists, etc. By 5:00 you can't even find me in my cubicle, and I have to stay late every night trying to get things in order so that the attorneys don't see my desk and think "what disasters lie beneath that chaos?" I definitely think I have adult add, never talked to anyone about it, I just don't know what to do. I don't have the hyper part, because I'm exhausted all the time. When I come home at night, I just want to crawl inside my bed with the TV on. But I'm a single mom of 2 - it's a struggle to get dinner on the table. And my house - that's a whole other disaster. Help!!

Debra,

There is a lady on the web who has developed a free program to deal with the specific problems you are talking about. Check out http://flylady.net It seems like I'm mentioning this site quite a lot, but it has helped me. No affiliation - somebody told me about Flylady and she is the best!

Wendy

There is an easy answer to your problem that is neat, plausible, and wrong.

Hello All!
I am a new member, and I thought I would introduce myself. I am adult with ADD. If anyone is interested in an audio program for organizing and getting control with ADD/ADHD, feel free to check out ADD Audio Coach at addaudiocoach.com.
Thanks,
Linda
