I'm new here at PsychCentral and am learning about ADHD. I just found out that I'm ADHD and my husband and I have a potential dx for our 7 yr-old son.

I'm 38, work for the gov't, married over 14 yrs. I drive a New Beetle and love most music (not country), sushi, and "Heroes." I'm scatterbrained, disorganized, and flamboyant. Heck, I dye my hair red and my Beetle has a hot pink racing stripe! Oh, and I watch cartoons with my kid like "Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends" and "Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy."

Now that I have a dx I have answers as to why I'm a spaz yet more questions...how do I deal at work at times? How can I get organized at home? Why is France so far away? (kidding!)

I've shared...who's next?

Since being diagnosed with ADD things make more sense to me too. Like alternating between being a space cadet and being so totally focused on something that I'm oblivious to everything else. It also explains why my mind races. (My psychiatrist, who is also ADD, says that it's like having a turbo race car engine instead of the standard model everyone else has. Vroom Vroom.) Can we do a roll call? The more I learn about it, the more I find out that ADD has made some people very successful - we're bad at follow-through, but great with coming up with creative ideas. So if we pair up with someone - it can be great. Who wants to be non-ADD? That seems boring. I think ADD is ok as long as you harness that energy and know how to work with it constructively. Meds help too. Can we do a roll call?
