Did anyone ever feel as if they were on "scan"... I sometimes listen to my car radio on scan. I feel like this is how my brain works. I have recently started taking ritalin, and it seems to bring my scattered thoughts to a more focused level. However, I am a bit concerned that my body will get used to my current dosage, and I will have to take more...

I spoke to my doctor about alternatives to taking meds. He basically poo-pooed this, and said that the meds are the way to go. I was diagnosed as being hyperactive as a child. I was quite successful in school, and always found a way to compensate for my scatteredness. I have a decent job as an educator and generally lead a relatively organized life. However, I am just learning that the ADHD might be getting in the way of me having successful romantic relationships. I am 33, and am not yet married. I have always been in a relationship, but they never make it to marraige. I am now dating this wonderful guy, and I don't want to ruin it with my behavior. Is ritalin really the answer? Any suggestions... -Kim

Ritalin is helping me, you don't become "used" to it so don't worry about a higher dosage, and yes I think knowing about ADD and Ritalin will help with relationships.
