Has anyone changed from Concerta to Vyvanse?

My Concerta doesn't last long enough for me. I don't know if I should ask for ritalin at the end of the day. He said he won't increase the dose any higher..

Experiences on Vyvanse?

If I could switch to Adderall XR I would but I'm not even going to mention it to my psychiatrist which is sad having to be careful asking for medications for my illness.

Here is info on Psych Central in forums and blogs about both these meds.
Psych Central - Search results for Difference between Concerta to Vyvanse
I cannot comment on your pdoc. it is not possible to say if he is being too conservative or if he is being a good advocate for your health. If you are totally unhappy with pdoc are there any other doctors to consider? If you are basically stable, going to a new doc could be starting all over again. For some people that could be scary. Sometimes the doc you know and are fairly happy with is a safer bet than an unknown doc.

If you are not feeling like meds are enough, would you be willing to consider life style changes that might help?

If so yoga (youtube.com search adrienne yoga complete beginners)
Exercise or walking or dancing

Doing physical work (no more snow shoveling please!~ lol)

Meditation - pm me for more on this or search mindfulness in PC search box.

I've been doing a bunch of stuff like swimming, yoga (I'm surprised it actually works), mindfulness and meditation in the mental hospital I'm at. Meds are definitely not enough but thanks

I'm on vyvanse, recently switched from Adderall XR bc the Adderall XR wasn't lasting long enough for me and I was having to take two doses and often forgetting the second dose and it still really wasn't lasting long enough. I'd been on it a really long time, however, like 7 or 8 years. I was on concerta briefly several years ago and it just didn't work well for me.
I really like vyvanse. It seems like it's a lot "smoother". I don't notice it taking effect or wearing off, it's more like all of a sudden I realize I've been able to concentrate the last hour or so without difficulty. I sleep better, I don't get the occasional heart palpitations I got on adderall. I had really bad headaches the first week or so but other than that, no real side effects. I'm pleased with it.
It does take quite a bit longer to kick in, for me almost two hours, so I take it as soon as I get up. That's the only real downfall I see with it.

I'm interested in Adderall because it seems to be the best at giving motivation due to the 25% l-amphetamine

I asked to try Vyvanse today and he said later to wait for the Abilify injection before we talk about ADHD medications.

I'm only getting the needle injection when they start talking about ADHD medications because I'm on pill form of Abiify so I don't see what difference is and how I have very little paranoia etc I don't even think I'm schizophrenic but this damn label is getting in the way of wanting to live life.

All that I need is my Abilify injection, change the ADHD meds and get out of this mental hospital it's not that bloody hard to be staying here for weeks and missing out on my life and education once again.

I'm sorry you're stuck in the hospital. I am as well, but in a medical hospital. I'm not sure which is easier. Can you tell me where you're finding info that levo-amphetamine is more motivating? I just did a quick pub med search and everything I read stated that dextro-amphetamine was the more stimulating of the two. Just curious. I hope vyvanse works for you and you get out of there soon.

I'll stick with Concerta because it works so well for me and there's a chance that my psychiatrist will increase it to 108mg in two weeks when the Abilify shot kicks in.

If not then I'll switch to Vyvanse.

I changed from Concerta to Vyvanse for the same reasons. I went from Concerta 72mg to 70mg Vyvanse too, and it worked wonders!!

Today I was allowed Concerta 90mg but I asked for Vyvanse instead because it's paid for by the government.

So tomorrow I start Vyvanse 30mg

I don't notice that the 30mg is doing anything for me..

I might switch back to Concerta 90mg but they told me to give the Vyvanse at least a week.

I switched from Adderall XR to vyvanse just because it seemed to stop being effective. I'd been on it a long time. It does last longer, a lot longer, like 12-14 hrs. Theoretically vyvanse has less abuse potential because of it's mechanism of action, so idk, your doc may be more comfortable prescribing that. The only issue I have with it is it takes a long time to kick it, like 2-3 hrs for me, so I have to wake up super early and take it as soon as I wake up. That's pretty much the only downfall I found.
