Hello, im new to this whole forum thing but I could really use some support. I was recently diagnosed with ADHD and I am 22 years old. I have gone all of my life without taking any type of medication and now I am on Vyvanse. Im not really sure how to describe the way im feeling right now but I cant help but think about how my life would have been different if I would have sought help sooner. Thoughts?

I am in the exact same boat as you. You have many more years to straighten your life out than I do so it is good that they found it when they did. You are still young. I was just diagnosed a year ago and I am now 57. I had so much difficulty in school, my career and my social life. I was missed getting a diagnosis as a child. I was unfortunately misdiagnosed with bipolar 19 years ago and was put on meds that I did not need. Since being started on meds for the ADHD, I have been awakened to life. I understand your feelings about missing a more normal life without the turmoil that ADD or ADHD brings. I went through a grieving process for many months, realizing what really happened but I could not go back and re-do any of it. I just have to go from here and be thankful for the years that I have left. I can focus and stay on task and stop being so restless now. I can think before I speak. So many things have changed for me. I do understand your feelings of loss of a better life and making better decisions. If you can, try to live life going forward. It is fine to grieve lost years for a while but you have your whole life ahead of you and now you can get the right help and begin to see.
