So,
I was on Vyvanse 70mg for a two years. I had a change in insurance and had to change Psychs (which I found one I really like) and have been going the past few months. Due to some insurance issues we decided to switch me to Adderall IR to decrease cost. After a month it was horrible and I was having horrible racing thoughts, panic attacks, etc. So we stopped to the Adderall IR for a few days to see if it would improve (we had also increased my Latuda dose so we were seeing which was effecting it). Anyways, my Psych is going out of town and was going to write me my script to pick up this week. I had said that since everything had calmed down and I had had no issues with Vyvanse AND my insurance issues were taken care of, if it would be okay to switch to the Vyvanse. He ended up calling me back (I missed his call) and he said that he would rather just stop both the Adderall and Vyvanse until we meet on the 26th. I start college classes next week (I decided to go back to school for nursing) and will now be going into a major summer semester that I have to pass...With no ADD medicine. I am supposed to email him back and let him know (there are some other medicine changes he is going to do over the phone to the pharmacy) and wants to know what I think. I'm honestly ticked...And going into classes is going to be hell not only for lack of concentration but also now going through withdrawls. What should I say on my email? I don't want to seem like I am just trying to get pills but I just feel like it's a harsh decision to just end this medication with no warning and out of the blue... What should I say on my email? Ugh this is stupid.

I would be pissed too. Matter of fact I'm pissed at the whole state of Florida for messing with my program. From CO. No medicaid here so it's been hard to get my meds plus strict laws. Adderal does suck in comparison to vyvanse and the timing is ******. You can be very on edge stopping vyvanse suddenly, not to mention not being able to pay attention and remember for s***. I would just be polite and tell the truth about your situation. That it's bad timing for right now and that you'd be willing to stop your meds or taper from them at a more convenient time. I doubt they would think you're just pill seeking if they've been treating you for a few months already. Just don't sound upset and speak the truth. It's a very legit reason to postpone stoppage of your meds. They had to go to school and study too at one point.

Anyways, We will see what he says. And it's not like I was just "randomly" diagnosed. I went through the WHOLE ADD/ADHD testing 4 years ago (questions, asking my wife questions, computer tests, live tests, etc). Very discouraging and it def' doesn't help with my anxiety in the least! Gah.

Well he responded and just said my concern was "noted." I expressed concern about not only going into classes with no medication but also starting withdrawals. He decided to pwrscribe me 100-200mg of Trazadone at night to help. Does that even help withdrawals ? I thought it was just for sleep ? So very confused...

I was looking online and saw that trazadone has been used for opiate withdrawals. Mainly to aid in sleep. Mixed reviews. Others have also used it for adderal/vyvanse comedowns. But you're not coming down you're coming off. Might wanna do your own research. Just a suggestion. Good luck.

Thanks guys. Yeah I'm stumped all around and not happy at all. The withdrawals have started and I'm useless. Aches and pain. So tired I can't function. I wish he would have at least tapered it down but I don't understand why he's messing with it in the first place...especially knowing I'm starting classes this Monday. I'm tempted to call my primary care doctor and see if he would write it for me. Its so irritating. Especially since there's literally no rhyme or reasons for him doing it.
