Im grateful for this place. I was diagnosed bipolar in 2006. My psychitrist was changed a few months ago (VA) my new one is great! I was scared and skeptical. No meds have worked before. So i went without for. While. I needed help, so i went back for help. This doctor said i have ADHD. When she read me my answers to the evaluaton, i was surprised. Seems my ADHD symptoms got buried under the bipolar ones. She started me on new meds. Im doing ok. Starting the secind ones this week. Im hopeful, but may need ideas on how to cope. My job suffers, and i often feel trapped. I want a better job. But find it near impossible to focus and keep going. I feel like im all over the place. Its like other people have sticky notes on the fridge. Mine seem to be flying in a small whirlwind. Im hopefull. Thanks for allowing me here.
Hugs from:

Hi Sammrie,

Glad you've found PC . Are you new to meds? Maybe once your body adjusts, your focus at work will improve?

Thank you. Yes, I am now on Lamictal, they started me on 25mg, and then raised my dosage to 50 mg after 14 days. Now doctor asked if I wanted to raise it again to 75 mg. But.. she also gave me Gabapentin (I am waiting to start on it). I want to start the second one first, before adding.

I understand that this is an unconventional use of this medication for ADHD. It was originally prescribed as a mood stabilizer for Bipolar. The doctor said she wants to see if this helps with ADHD as well. When I started this medication, I started a blog, so I can track how I am feeling, to see if it's helping. Maybe it will help others as well.

I was coping with Bipolar mood swings, I am starting to try to figure out how to cope with ADHD. I had no idea I have it. The symptoms are overlapping and too similar. ADHD was a surprise, It just popped up.

I am so glad I have a doctor who spotted it and is giving me meds that work. I have tried meds before and nothing worked.

I don't want to take more medication than necessary. I also don't want my life to revolve around Bipolar or ADHD, I just have to live with it and work around it. I need to be functional, that will relieve my stress, and then I will be ok.

Having a job is nearly impossible with the way I am. I drive myself nuts.. LOL
Thanks for this!
