Is ADD/ADHD and PTSD in any way related or are they totally different?

People are trying to diagnose me with ADD/ADHD but the sympotms that I am having which I cannot prove becuase they are internal, are leaning more and more towards PTSD.

Any help please?

Im sorry I dont personally know but someone in my family has both.do you think that you could have add and also have ptsd from going thru something terrible. My family member was hit on a pedestrian crossing near school. and was also attacked by magpies, and stung by hornets and bees. + multiple other problems. but the add doesnt help and sort of confuses things. ADD and PTSD i noticed your post was a while ago have you got any answers yet?

Hello EC. I have PTSD and ADD and yes they are related. I have had ADD for years and then got diagnosed with PTSD. Although if you have ADD it does not mean that you have PTSD.(If that makes sense) PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder is related to something traumatic happening in your life). Getting diagnosed from a professional is your best advantage over taking care of the problem that you are having at this time. Take care of yourself. Soidhonia
