Does anyone here get fixated on something to the point where they cannot give it up?
Example - I know to some this will see funny (it's OK to laugh..)

Two Halloweens ago, I became fixated that trick or treaters were going to fall on my sidewalk because of falling leaves. So I raked and raked - sidewalk pretty clean - then I swept and swept and then swept some more, then I took a hose and washed and washed and washed. And only thru the grace of God was I finally able to quit. Every single leaf had to be off the sidewalk. I could actually imagine a child tripping on a single leaf (I could see it in my mind's eye)

I could give you many examples beside this...

I've done many things that help - I got a self turning off iron and coffee pot..I don't use things like curling irons. I used to have a ritual that I went thru before I left the house - sometimes having to repeat it several times.

So I would really like to know... One of the T said it couldn't possibly OCD because I wouldn't be able to control it to the extent that I do.
So is it PTSD that makes me do these things?

Okay, that sounds like the things I would do. I think the answer is OCD and if you have PTSD ( then maybe both).
I would find another therapist if this one doesn't think you have OCD... That's pretty textbook. I get obsessed with the strangest things also. I have to unplug everything. I'm never quite sure the door is locked (even though I checked it 25 times) : ) I have to tap the burners on the stove 3 times before I go to bed. ..... I do think though that some people are more aware and thoughtful of other people as in your case of the leaves. I see nothing wrong with that. One leaf wouldn't probably hurt though : )

Hello I hope you are doing wellat this time. I really feel that you sound like you have OCD because you obsess about things. I hope you get another opinion from another Dr for yourself since you will need help and possibly therapy to help you keep control and get more control in the future. I hope the best for you take care sincerely Soidhonia
