I have read many threads on many sites about coping with dry mouth. Is there anyone out there who has tried several different stimulant meds and found a particular medication to be less "mouth drying". I am taking Adderall IR 20mg 2x day. Also, is the XR better than IR in this respect?

I haven't found a solution either Although my dry mouth seems to subside the longer I take the meds. Did you just start them?
In the mean time, keep a bottle of water close. Candy and juicy gum also helps me
Thanks for this!

I'm also interested in hearing some answers! I love to sing and dry mouth makes that hard. Sometimes my throat/mouth get so dry (despite constantly drinking water) that my voice cracks or I can't talk!

Really strong mint gum helps for me a teeny bit, particularly before I sing. I like 5 gum because it has really strong flavor, but it could honestly be more long lasting. I've never tried them, but I know there are OTC saliva substitutes like biotene oral balance and I'd be interested to hear if anyone's tried them

Mints, gum, water.

Amphetamine isn't as bad as methylphenidate I think.

I was on an antipsychotic called Invega and my mouth was so dry that I couldn't speak but when talking to people, I always would have water near.

Brushing teeth helps as well.

Any stimulant medication is going cause dry mouth, because it speeds up your metabolism so that you're burning everything off quicker.

I already struggle with dry mouth due to a medical condition, so when I was taking ADHD medication, I always always had to have something with me: a bottle of water, some Ricola cough drops -- which I figured were a little healthier for me to rely on than candy, but it's still a lot of sugar.. there's probably some even healthier lozenge-type options out there that I didn't get around to finding.

Only way to avoid the dry mouth would be to switch to a non-stimulant. Strattera works for some people.

I went from Adderall IR 20mg 2x a day to Adderall XR 40mg once in the morning and the dry mouth is definitely not as bad
