I take Ritalin 10mg 3 times daily for adult ADD and it really helps with focus/ability to concentrate. I am curious about Adderall. Has anyone used both Adderall and Ritalin. Is one more effective than the other? I am also wondering if anyone has switched from an amphetamine like Ritalin or Adderall to Stratera and had good results. So far I have heard nothing but negative regarding the Strattera. Thanks.

Hello Prinivil, (or should I say Lisinipril)

I have adult ADD as one of my Axis 1 diagnosis. I took at one time 20mg Ritalin SR with 20mg Ritalin, followed by (3) 20mg doses of Ritalin, then a couple of years ago they put me on 36mg of Concerta day. Now for last year take Adderal XR 20mg/day.

I think the Adderal XR is compound of both Ritalin and Dexadrine. Worked good for awhile, though after a year built tolerance to the orig 10mg/day then was increased to 20mg/day Now the caseworker thinks I need an increase again. It seems to help better than the Ritalin or Concerta for me.

I still have trouble concentrating on it now, usually have many projects going at once, and other ADD issues. I don't want anything to do with Strattera, it has not been tested on adults, I have sent away for information on it and everytime I recieve information related to it's use with children.

I would like to chat but my computer is too old and can not chat.

Take it easy, Chris

Thanks for the info. I'm wondering if anyone else has had experience with both the Adderall and the Ritalin or with the Strattera?

How much do you weigh? Because of a pharmacy misprint I was taking 30 mg a day at first, I noticed a difference, but my doc said that was a child's does, and corrected it to the 60 mg it should have been. 60 was much better. Ask you doc about the dose before changing rx.

I'm seventeen an I'm ADHD, I take Adderal XR 30 mg and i love it, i've tried a bunch of sutff leading up to just taking this and it has been great for me. My concentration and fidgets are controlled and I've been having pretty smooth sailing for a while-i dont know any technical advise to give because everyones different, but if your ready for a change, its worth it to try- but the only downside...no generic right now!

I start adderall in the morning. It will be my first experience with Meds of this type. Just diagnosed with ADD.

When I went to my doctor today, I was well prepared. I immediately said no Stattera - reason being - I want to wait and see more Adult results of the drug. She then mentioned Ritalin. I had a few opinions on Ritilan. So she suggested Adderall. I asked which one??Adderall, Ritalin, or Strattera? I then checked my notes and agreed to try it. She is starting me on a low dose, increasing each week. I asked my doctor when I could expect to see results. Her response was "when we find the right dose" Adderall, Ritalin, or Strattera?
