Hi, Projects, Projects, & more Projects!

I was just wondering if others out there with ADD end up starting so many personal projects that seem to never becoming completed?

I have Adult ADD as on of my Diagnosis and seems I am alway starting new projects. I will make check lists on the computer, and charts, graphs, lists, letters to the editor of the newspaper to say the least.

Just today, for instance 2 hours ago I put in the Microwave a TV dinner. Projects, Projects, & more Projects! Now just a few minutes ago I remembered it was in there and reheated.

Aside from my 'projects' is house work. When I first started on Adderal XR 10mg then 20mg I was doing alot better. Now with unfinished projects galore, and my inabiliy to watch Telivision for now over a month, my caseworker seems to feel maybe an increase in my medication is needed.

Oh, housework, got off topic, seems I am cleaning the entire house at one time. I realize this as I go from room to room, and in each room seems there is some kind of cleaning product that became abandoned as I entered another room.

So when I clean I try to take everything from each room to where it is supposed to go, and half the time I find something in one room and then end up sitting down and that is the end of housework. Because I am now looking at a magazine or book or something.

Also I am a pak rat Projects, Projects, & more Projects! and especially printed materials. Hate to throw stuff away. So I am one of those people who have all sizes of platic baskets, bins, file folders, file boxes, and on and on and seems the things from each as I try to go through a bin or box just get tossed into antother bin or box and circulate aroud.

Just like the housework thing just seem to circulate around the 4 rooms of my apartment.

So I am beginng to think an increase in the Adderal would be a good thing.

Well just wanted to see if anyone has similar things.

BTW/ anyone ever have to push the button on the cordless phone in order to find it? ha!
I do it every day it seems- Thank God for that feature Projects, Projects, & more Projects!

Chris

Chris the meds can help with focus but they don't cure ADD. The book "ADD Friendly Ways To Organize Your Life" has given me some good tips. The best one for getting the house cleaned one room at a time. Enter your bed room and block the exit with a chair, every time you pick up something that should leave the bed room place it on the chair instead of leaving the bedroom! That one really works. Also on a project that will take over an hour, set a kitchen to 10 minutes or so, and when it rings see if you are still on the project LOL, if not get back to it.

Thanks for the repy Todd, and for the book title.

I appreciate the Suggestions that have worked for you and will have to keep them in mind for me to put them into action.

Lately I have been trying to find everything in all the rooms a 'HOME' I think part of the problem and irritability is due to the simple fact that I have not been very consistant in putting things in the same place after using them.

This is actually beginng to work for me as I most likely can locate the things I need. Like I would always get upset in the kitchen trying to find the can opener...thus for the past month the 'home' for the can opener is on top of the Microwave. So I guess little by little I am working on getting organized and giving things a specific place.

Thanks again- Chris

Your welcome, also the book "You mean I'm not lazy, stupid, or crazy?!" is a good one.

Two good book suggestions Todd. Great ideas about staying on task as well.
Thank you. I will surely need to read both books and keep your ideas in mind.
The day I found out I wasn't lazy or crazy was a great day. Definitely must read that book.

You got me with this post Kris. Everything you mentioned pertained to me.

I am happy to announce that I may have finished one of those many projects. Its not perfect yet, but that is what makes it perfect. Projects, Projects, & more Projects!

I can forget about cleaning. I'd rather be mowing the lawn or stacking wood. I have a 4 bed room house with only two people and three animals in it. Every room is chaulk full of my clutter. I try to get rid of it, but it keeps coming back. My husband nicknamed me "the tornado" years ago.

I have been on adderall for about 3 weeks. Increasing by 10 mg each week. When I saw my docotr on Monday she suggested increasing by 10mg every four days until I hit 60 mg. The drug does not appear to be helping me at this point, but I can still hope.

By the way, has anyone seen MY phone? Projects, Projects, & more Projects!

Thanks Emwell,

I like that nick name of 'the Tornado' Projects, Projects, & more Projects!

I think that pharase (tornado) sums up my entire post!

As far as the Adderal going to 60mg, though you say it is not helping you much, gives me some hope of the fact I am only taking 20mg and to know it can go much higher of a dose.

Thanks for your reply. I need to laugh more, Projects, Projects, & more Projects! as I like the Laughter being the best medicine.
