Hi, I was recently diagnosed with ADHD (but have known that I probably had it for a few years now), and put on Adderall XR 15mg. I really don't like the way this drug makes me feel -- there are good days, where I feel mostly fine, but bad ones where I feel dizzy, nauseous and really tired. I do tend to feel sort of tired on it, and not as hyper (which I suppose means it's working). I do notice the positive effects, too, but am wondering if I should try Ritalin instead. My doc told me that sometimes, people who do well on Adderall do not do as well on Ritalin, and vice versa.
Does anyone have this experience - where you started off on Adderall and found that you did/felt much better on Ritalin? I've been taking Adderall XR close to a week now, and the way I feel on it seems random...not gradually this or that. I also found out that if I don't eat right away after taking it, I will feel HORRIBLE until I do eat. Ugh. Also, what does it mean if the Adderall XR seems to be wearing off earlier the longer I take it? Does that mean that I need a higher dose? By the way, I already take Zoloft 50mg for panic disorder (started a little over a year ago and it's made a HUGE difference and thus I have stopped having panic attacks except once in a blue moon) and Claritin-D for allergies. |

You should probably talk to your doctor about this. If you don't feel completely right taking it, then you probably need a higher dose or maybe it doesn't work for you. I've actually never taken Ritalin, so I can't help you on that. But I did do well on Adderall.

Yeah, gonna be seeing him next week for a follow-up appointment. I've kinda gotten to the point where I feel scared of how I'm going to feel on it, so I've stopped taking it temporarily. I know that this ties in with my panic disorder issues, and perhaps the best thing for me would be to receive some cognitive-behavioral therapy. Gonna figure out my options when I talk to the psychiatrist next.
