not sure what's going on with me lately. i've been having a truly hard time concentrating. it's getting more and more difficult to stay focused. i get very easily distracted. i procastinate to God knows how long. actually i recently realized that i have been this way for a long time, or better yet ever since i can remember! i was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2006. i haven't really experienced a "manic" episodes. yes, i do have rapid changes in my mood. and i did have a major depressive episode which required inpatient treatment. mostly my mood ranges from depression to irritability to sometimes joyous. well anyway i wanted to know how likely it is that i can have both add and bipolar disorder? and if anyone has both. thanks

They both commonly occur together AND are commonly mistaken for each other. ADHD can occur comorbid to any diagnosis though. Have you gone to your therapist or psychiatrist to discuss this?
Are you being treated for Bipolar Disorder?

Thanks for responding SIMCHA. Yes i am being treated for bipolar disorder, however, the meds that i am on do not help with my issues of concentration. honestly my first thought was that it was anxiety, but no anxiety meds help me. so now i have this issue of not being able to concentrate, my grades in school are a reflection of my current functioning. i am terribly irritable. i lack the enthusiasm to do anything, i am always procastinating, which is terrible. i just don't know what's going on.

I have both bi-polar 2 and ADHD so the answer would be yes.

I have Bipolar II and ADHD. Meds are helping with my days.

MY symptoms are exacerbated with my lack of good sleep at night. I manage to nap several times a night but I haven't had a good night sleep in months even with sleep meds.
