Had my follow up appointment with my family dr today. No surprise that the report was that I do have ADD.
He prescribed me Clonidine. I am not real familiar with this. Anyone know about it? What to expect with it? The side effects, etc?

I am just so happy to have my official diagnosis and be on the road to semi-normalcy!

This is where you should ask your doc about it, not a forum.

I'm glad you have answers. But just so you know - just because you have ADHD, or any other mental health illness/disorder, doesn't mean you should obey society and become "normal", (which IMO, doesn't exist), I think ADHD is a very complicated, complex, sometimes misunderstood, and hard disorder to deal with, but you shouldn't feel like you are not normal - because no one is normal, and anyone who says otherwise, is a down right liar.

I think if you feel you need to be on medication and feel you need to have something/someone to help you cope/get support with the ADHD, then do it for you, not for the sake of feeling pressured to be normal and that the ADHD is some monster.

It is not you, it may be a part of you, but it's not you.

I have ADHD, too, and it is very hard to cope with, but no one in this world is normal, and I think you should know that if you think otherwise.

If I am wrong, and you were just joking around, then I apologize and good luck with helping yourself cope with this, but this question is best asked for the doctor who prescribed you the medication.

Pupp- When I first read your post I was a little peeved, but then found it hilarious. I love the spunk and attitide in it!!
I never had and never will be one to conform to society's standards of what is "normal. I just want to feel "normal" with myself. If that makes sense?!?!?

I did ask my dr about the side effects which primarily is fatigue. I am not real happy about that, but maybe I wont have the effect. Will wait to see. He prefers to try non-stimulants first before going to something like Ritalin or Adderall.

Has anyone else tried Clonidine? How did you do with it? Like it, hate it?

Thanks!
