Maybe I listen too much to what people say.

In my old town, my therapist thought I had AS, but my pdoc didn't so I never got a dx there.

Now that I have moved, I met one lady that works with special needs kids, including kids on the autism spectrum. She said I did not have those behaviors at all, I seemed quite normal.

But now, I have a new therapist too. I casually mentioned a couple times what my old therapist thought. But this therapist said she not only agreed with him, but she could tell I had an ASD pretty early on. She specializes in bipolar, but she says I'm similar to her bipolar with ASD people. She thinks I need to bring it up with my new pdoc, but I'm kind of afraid to.

Why are people saying such contradictory things to me? I think it has to do with the fact I'm female or something. ARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHH!!!

Being femal is a big part of it. Most of the ASD research is based on males and we present differently. Females even with ASD are wired to be more social and it throws people off... especially if you are smart enough to find ways to think about social interactions that just come naturally to others.
There are no ASD meds just meds for other things that have better outcomes for ASD or that manage specific symptoms (like the OCD stuff that can sometimes come with ASD.

Hi BC Good to see you again!

Can you ask this person that is treating you to write a letter to your Pdoc with their thoughts on an ASD? It will make it easier when presenting your case.

Just a thought.......

Yep, females with AS often have better body language and more typical-sounding speech--but we still have all the other stuff going on, and the lack of the obvious characteristics can throw off a psychologist who is depending on the obvious signs that are more easy to detect in males.
