December 9th, Temple grandin will be speaking at UCF in orlando Florida.

The only downside is that tickets are $55 each.

It makes me soo depressed to know that she will be just a 30 minute drive from me, but I lack the money to buy a ticket. Her movie was the biggest eye opener for me in learning to accept my autism. It allowed me to understand why I felt the way I did, why I reacted to things the way I did, etc. I can't even begin to explain it.

The only thing keeping me from obsessing hard over it is this line:
A workshop for parents, teachers and professionals working with those with autism spectrum disorders.

As much as I would love to hear her and possibly even meet her... It's not for autistic individuals, but rather to help others understand autistics.

In any case, here's the link in case you're curious.

Hmm this interests me, not so much her appearance but I looked up the movie to see who you were talking about. I think I want to see this now and also if my boy can stay focused long enough maybe he'll get something out of it. Thanks for this post

She's written several very good books, one of which is called "Thinking in Pictures". It was my first intro to Asperger's. She also has a number of lectures on YouTube if you're interested. She's very open about her autism and was one of the pioneers who brought the condition in to the light.
