I noticed the autism/Asperger's forum isn't nearly as busy as the others. Isn't that a bit typical LOL.

Seriously though. My T wants me to go to an Asperger's support group to meet others with AS. She thinks it will help my depression and not feel so alone. I am terrified of meeting new people though. Has anyone else done this? Does it help? Should I make myself go?

I have attended two different adult Asperger's Syndrome groups. One was a mixed group, which I did not like. The other group was for ladies. This one was more appropriate for me.

Does it help? I think so. It was nice to find others with very similar life experiences.
Thanks for this!

In my case I don't really like the company of other people so I'm reluctant about the idea of going to groups, I'm not sure I see the point, but I'm hoping to get involved in a local autism organisation when I've got the money and I think my advice would be to give it a go, at least one time, and then you can get an idea of whether or not you might want to go back and you can say you gave it a try.
Thanks for this!

I noticed that you were from Washington State. Do you live in a major city (such as Spokane, Seattle, Vancouver, Olympia, and so on)? Not living in a major city would probably make it harder to find an Asperger's support group.
Thanks for this!

Looks like I should maybe give it a try.

The city I live in is small, just over 100,000 people. But I am very close to Seattle (25 minutes away by car).
