Why did I just start a thread on this? I know this is odd but I need to know if others have experienced this too.

Yesterday my doctor asked me about obsessions. It was difficult to discuss because some of my past obsessions were very odd. She was particularly interested in the sensations and feelings I got from those things. I tried to describe the connection I felt and the pleasure they caused by activating my senses (particularly touch and smell). My senses would overwhelm me to the point of euphoria that felt like an electrical sensation inside my head.

Does anyone know what I am talking about?

Someone with ASD must know what I am talking about.

I know what you're talking about. The only reason I was hesitant to reply to the thread is because I also have OCD, so I'm never overly sure how much of my pleasure from obsessions comes from my AS and how much is from my OCD haha.

I think that at least two of my big obsessions are more in line with my AS though as they are part of my 'special interests' and whenever I partake in them it's quite difficult for me to explain the feeling of relief and comfort I get. It's kind of like the world fades away and my body feels like it's just been given a drug to heighten all of my senses. My anxiety level also drops to virtually none which is a nice change from the normal levels.

Not sure about the electrical feeling in my head though. But then I'm not great at describing things about my feelings.

P.S. I love your sig, Janeway for the win!

I have had a lot of obsessions in my life. I know what you mean about the effect that they have. My friends used to think I was weird because I used to talk to them about the same things all the time and they would get bored. Have either of you experienced that?

I have OCD and get relief/satisfaction from satisfying rituals and compulsions - but it is temporary.

Rosska, rainyday107, and tesseract49 thank you for replying.

Does anyone get the head sensations I mentioned when stimming?

My head sensations are probably just a didgee glitch. I thought someone would get the same sensations as me.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
