I have had several vocal related issues. Firstly, my vocal register appears to have been bumped up by an octave or 2 without my realising it. When I was 12-13 I remember having a dull baritone monotone. I now sound fairly childlike.
The timbre and cadential patterning of my voice changes frequently at random and without conscious attention on my part.
Finally until recently I spent the majority of my time at home where I talked to my family members in a sort of "baby-voice". This made me feel safe somehow but was limited to home - outside the home or with company present I would revert to my normal speech characteristics.

Im wondering if anyone relates to any of this. Seems seriously weird and im wondering if its related to AS at all

I'm not overly sure. Apparently I speak in monotone most of the time, even though I don't think that's how I sound at all. Also if I'm around people who have strong accents I apparently mimic their accent without realising I'm doing it.

I don't know. My friend sometimes switches to a baby voice. An autistic guy I knew had his normal voice but had a much better flow when he used his funny voice so sometimes he got stuck with it.

I got into trouble in school for giving oral reports in monotone. Had a good teacher work with me a lot on that. She told me to try to sing the report to people but in a very soft way. Hard to explain.
Also, I stutter when I am overloaded.
And when I was diagnosed they put down I talked in a child like voice.

I do. but.. thats due to something other than aspergers for me. a lot of people tell me i sound flat, but at the same time those same people will point out that i will sound more and more baby like sometimes. i can attempt to try and sound not that way, but it comes out just plain creepy usually as i'm not successful so not only do i still sound babyish but i will also have an added deeper/lower sound to it because i'm trying to "lower" from the high pitched sound, but it doesn't work quite right lol...

my step brother also speaks in a baby voice a lot too, and he gets in trouble over it. when i was around him, it didn't matter what kind of voice he spoke in with me, because i noticed he started not talking because he didn't know how to change his voice to normal just like i dont know how. wish i did, then i could let him know how he could too.

i also seem to repeat a word right after i just said it when i'm nervous and trying to form a sentence that fits in a speedy manner. and i also occationally will have moments where i talk like "I....i... i dont know" kind of thing. prolly not as long of a pause between the i's that i have going on there, but still gets the point across... i think...

but without my vyvanse med, i am locked within myself, and find it dang near impossible to speak more than one or two words a day, and those are extremely difficult for me to even get out of my mouth. I think in pictures so it kind adds to the problem of needing to form words that fit what i'm thinking. because i cant send what i know in my head to someone else, they have to be told(Cause they can't hear my brains rattling (as when i used to only communicate with nods and head shakes and would sign "i love you" to my grandparents) or they dont know unless i tell them..). but off of my vyvanse med, i'm able to speak non verbally, and i'm able to think.. just like i do now.. but i cant get it out through my mouth without constant stress and attention on trying to get just that one or two words out that i'm trying to communicate verbally with others. i'm still able to type and write, and draw for the most part. but i do a lot less typing than i do while i'm on vyvanse. and i also do a lot more drawing off of it. I find it odd how one med can change so much in me. makes it hard for me to know which is the true me and which isn't. and if i stop vyvanse, people still expect me to be who i was on it. but if those people get used to me being off of it, or only know me while i'm off of it, they don't have that expectation. they dont expect me to be able to perform when its not possible. but people who have known me on vyvanse seem to not see that side of me, or even think i have that issue or struggle so much with. communication is usually the main struggle that i'm struggling with when i'm off of my vyvanse med. they dont seem to understand, that the med unlocks things just as a game that has cheat codes unlocks things. and that if i'm not taking it, that i appear a different person due to i seem in my own world (which usually i do tend to go on my own and not notice those around me). but they dont seem to know how it's possible that way. but it is. even tho i cant explain it in a way for them to understand it.
