I been diagnosed with high functioning autism and so don't think it hinders me much but sometimes i wonder if it does. I have always been lonely and never had friends. So i have a hard time talking to people in person and have a hard time saying what i mean to say. A couple years back i started gaming online and found i have a easier time talking to people online then i do in real life. I know people say it not safe but its the only way i talk to people and make friends. Is this part of autism?

I have Aspergers Syndrome/HFA-NOS I have always had trouble talking to people, especially when it comes to relationships. I have have no problem after we are talking, but the minute it fails or they leave me I get very upset. Yes it much easier online and when it becomes a question of safety is when you meet in real-life. I have met 6 people from online and no one has ever physically hurt me I have had more positive encounters then negative.

I too find online communication to be much easier. I started up an online gaming community just over 6 years ago and have made a few very close friends over the years through that community. In the 'real world' where I live I only have one friend from my time in school, everybody else from school treated me pretty badly because of how different I was from them.

I think that it is definitely easier for me to communicate online, which is why I go on to these forms and post a lot.
