So I recently took a couple of online quizzes and psych evals and did a bit of research (and talked to one of my friends with Aspergers) and I explained why I think I have autism but first let me tell you why i think I have autism:

One day last week when I had pneumonia and had to stay home I got really bored and decided to watch documentaries on kids living with autism. The first video I watched was of this little girl in the U.K. and she was talking about how certain words taste or feel a certain way in her mouth when she says them and she thinks in 'pictures' which made total scence to me. It made me question if I was autistic and I did more digging and I now have this long list of things that are characteristics of me that are characteristic of autistic kids which actually made me relieved. I just don't know what to do now. Help?

I am in the same boat as you. I did the same thing a few months ago and...I am planning on speaking to therapist.

about it...it does to me make sense for me and some of my issues I have had before in the past and present.

but its still scary to think about it.

I think you should see a Neuropsychologist who can test you for AS if your insurance approves it. If not, I would see a psychologist with expertise in AS, particularly young adults. Hopefully you will find good one and get the help you feel you need!

It definitely sounds possible! Seeing things about autism and feeling like they relate to you is I think a really common way for people to figure out that they're autistic. The sense of relief you had in learning about autistic traits sounds really similar to what happened to me.

For your question "what you should do now" I think the answer is: "what do you want to do?"

You don't need to get an official diagnosis unless that's something you think is important or helpful. If you have difficulties that you think are autism-related and a psychologist might help with, you can do that, but there's definitely no need to. (And sometimes seeing a psych/therapist for autism is more trouble than it's worth, apparently.) There may be opportunities in your area for either social meetups or support groups, that could be useful in learning more about yourself or meeting other autistic people. I'm not sure if you've run across it yet, but the Autistic Self Advocacy Network has a lot of info, in particular I found this guide for dealing with college had a lot of really helpful stuff in it even though I'm not in college. I also found talking to and reading blogs by autistic people really great and helpful for learning about myself.

Is there anything specific you want to talk about/do/have help with?
Thanks for this!

Hello deathspellz I came to this site the same way after doing the test. When looking at the website I noticed other issues I have so decided to join. For myself at my age I don't see any point in having an official diagnosis but would like to understand myself better especially in the area of relationships from friendships to partners which I seem unable to comprehend. And thank you seraphic for link the guide on dealing with college as I started this year and am finding it very hard to focus with everything going on around me.
