i think it would have helped all of us greatly if you had just added the definitions. I had to look up two of these terms and am not sure what the other two of them mean. Don't like guessing or guessing games as they don't help us to pick up right away what you mean and what is out there for us to look out for. Lots of us are left still wondering. Let's do things like this to help each other, okay? We don't need to be stymied any more than we already are. Thank you.

Quote:
Synesthesia: When one sense (organ) triggers another type of sense. Ex. when you see colour, you hear the colour as if it had its own pitch. Misophonia: When you hear (certain) noises, it causes extreme discomfort or actually pain. Ex. feeling pain when hearing someone chew food Visual snow: like seeing television static across your field of view. For me, I used to be a maladaptive dreamer a few years ago. I don't have misophonia (really) or synesthesia. I do have visual snow. I thought everyone has this. But apparently not. Before, when I was younger, I thought they were particles. So I learned something new today. I have had visual snow my whole life. I am professionaly diagnosed with ASD - level 1. For me, this is my misophonia: -annoyed by beeping noises, high-pitched noises, and "background noises: -if my setting is too loud, I can't think Visual snow: I constantly see static all the time. It's worse when it's darker out. I believed everyone saw like this, but apparently not. I also have a lot of "more common" co-morbids too.

Yeah, the misophonia drives me insane...so many trigger sounds where I live... But then again, moving out would mean moving out...

i have moderate classic autism with misophonia and the comorbid attached; hyperacusis,a lot of people with misophonia probably have hyperacusis to.
i live in my own thoughts and world most of the time i dont know if that is whats known as maladaptive day dreaming,i dont quite understand the definition. i dont have synesthesia but my sister does, she is classic aspie via a female presentation but is only diagnosed with social anxiety disorder as her doctor didnt believe females could have aspergers or autism overall, she denies it completely so ive never brought it up with her again. i dont have visual snow but i do have severe visual perception issues caused by my autism,ie i visually see people as all the same generic shape and see everything as lines and colours that come together,i find it hard to process what im seeing.

Just a question, isn't maladaptive dreaming some form of dissociation or psychosis? Rather than a asperger symptom?

It's a form of dissociation, but it's known people with asperger dissociates more than people without it.
