Is there anybody with ASD here that takes a medication, like antidepressants or antipsychotics to help control symptoms like irritability, anger or depression?

I do and i am curious if anybody else does.

Thanks

Lamictal helps for my depression and anxiety, and has really helped a ton with quieting down my overthinking.

I take medication, but the medication is for Bipolar disorder and anxiety, not autism specifically.

Yep. I also have complex PTSD. So the anxiety men's for that help with some of the autism overload issues to a point. But the autism issues are so deep in my being that the meds really barely touch that part of me.

I take medication for anxiety, OCD, and now depression. I only take one thing (Luvox) but would like to add a stimulant to help with issues from depression but also inattentive issues because of autism.

I take Lexapro and it has helped me tremendously. Before I was on it, the slightest thing could move me to tears. It hasn't eliminated my anxiety but has helped lower it to where it is more manageable. My overactive bladder, since taking Lexapro, is not overactive. I have long thought my OAB was tied to anxiety more than anything else. Thus, I am getting up less often and actually doing what one is supposed to do at night - sleep.

i cannot take antidepressants. They give me edema, swelled feet and legs and make me sick, do nothing good for me. If I am extremely nervous and/or cannot sleep I will take half a milligram of alprazolam. i have tried buspar and it was worthless to me. I hate to take this stuff so I do not do it very often, only if it is a kind of emergency. If I took a lot of it, I am afraid it would give me dementia. I take a natural sleep med. made of melatonin and parts of flowers.
