Hi. Im trying to decide if I have autism. Would this be considered a meltdown?
I once upset my dads gf, and I could not understand why. I tried telling her I didn't get why she was upset, but she kept pushing it and getting frustrated with me. I soon started bawling in front of her because I felt stuck and confused and didn't know how to end the conversation. I wasn't like 6 years old either, I was a 13 year old teenager breaking down crying in front of an adult because of something I had said. This "conversation" if you'd even call it that went on for about an hour. I eventually understood that she felt left out by something I had done after she explained it multiple times. I know meltdowns are common in people with autism, is this one? I just kinda broke out of confusion and frustration and misunderstanding and felt stuck in the situation. |

Hm it is hard to tell and bare in mind that I am in no way a specialist. I would guess that it is fairly normal to break down in front of an adult even with age of 13 especially when you are in an argument without even knowing why exactly and this leading to crying is in no way abnormal and I am pretty sure this even happens in adults.

I’d call that a communication failure that led to frustration. It was between two people, a disconnect that went on for an hour, causing tears of frustration in a young teen. No, as an isolated incident, I don’t see it as anything but that.

One meltdown doesn't make someone autistic. Everyone gets upset sometimes.
