I have been in therapy for a few years to deal with depression and self-esteem issues, which has helped. I recently sought out a therapist to potentially diagnose Aspergers... Instead, the testing and sessions point to AvPD, Dependence and a couple of other areas to address. I have managed to survive for over 50 years, but I only have a couple of friends...

I look forward to learning, and perhaps sharing some coping mechanisms. The psychologist has suggested relaxation techniques and possible hypnosis. Has anyone gone down either of these paths?

I have found the relaxation technique very difficult to work with. My mind races, and I cannot get my mind to slow down enough to focus on just my breathing or just one object of focus. This contributes to my anxieties. I realize that the breathing is supposed to bring down the heart rate and calm the body and mind but my mind is too active to accomplish the focused breathing.
