I cant make any friends either and I am not shy, just socially retarded, cant keep my head in the conversation...but if you are shy you have better chances, take a chance and talk to someone? Try to meet someone from the itnernet?

It's easy to make friends here on PC. I'm terrible in social situations also. I avoid them as much as possible. But here since it's not face to face I've really met some great people. Welcome to PC!

I've been in and out a shyness rut, too. Ultimately, if you are sick to death of it enough, you may just start taking chances and start speaking up for yourself. I know the anxiety that comes with being in the room packed with strangers and everybody talking at the same time! Have a seed of courage and hold on to it. "Hello" is a good place to start. From my experience, people love to be asked questions about themselves. We're all human, friend.

"I am not shy, just socially retarded"

i can totally relate to how you're feeling. i want to make more friends too but i don't know how. i'm really shy and basically, i'll only talk to someone if they approach me first. and i don't really put myself out there too much because... well, where am i going to go all alone to meet people? i feel so lonely sometimes and i feel like no one would care (or even notice) if i suddenly disappeared. it makes me sad

i can totally relate to this. i feel so awkward about people and i don't enjoy socializing because i'm in my head the whole time worrying about how i'm appearing/if the other person lifes me/what to say next/saying the wrong thing. it's just not fun for me. and then it's awkward when people ask general questions like "what'd you do last weekend" because it's kind of lame to say "oh, you know, i didn't get out of bed because i was feeling depressed." i only have 3-4 "friends" (they're more like something between a friend and an acquaintance... like i wouldn't be able to call them at 2am crying) and my shyness makes it hard to meet new people

coleychi, you essentially described me in a nutshell.

It's a very lonely life. I feel like it isn't fair to say we don't 'want' to socialize. I see that assumption a lot. I do want to. I want so badly to have friends, to know how to react adequately, to get things. But I don't get things, so I don't know how.

If any of you need to talk.. my inbox is open, too.

I went to a social anxiety support group recently, I was a little nervous at first but everyone was very friendly, accepting and wanted to hear what I had to say. I'm looking forward to the next group. I wish everyone had social anxiety/APD.. it would make life a lot easier!

But then no one would have it anymore

Which would make life a whole lot easier too!

Have you ever watched Hitchhiker's Guide? Let's just get that gun and shoot everyone with it so that they understand how we feel. Problem solved!
