I thought I had AvPD but the OCD took me by surprise. My T also advised me that after only 2 sessions these are first impressions.

Yeah, I think it takes a longer time than that to get to know us.
((honestly, although I'M confident in my bipolar 2 diagnosis, I'm NOT confident in my pdoc's agreement with it!)) Personality disorders in particular are hard to really diagnose, so it'll probably be a while before it's "final". __________________ "The time has come, the Walrus said, to talk of many things. I'm having trouble with my wife now. She has been diagnosed with severe depression for many years. When I confided last nite after 23 years about AvPD her answer was that I don't want to do things. I told her I can't do some things (like birthday parties) She told me to man up. I explained it was like telling her to snap out of depression.

I'm sorry that she's said that to you. I think some people get so wrapped up in their own struggles that they forget to be sensitive to others. (For example, before I went to the pdoc the first time I was cooompllleeeettteeely freaking out but I was trying to keep it together. I did, hwoever, talk about it frequently with others. One of my "friends" told me to get over it that it wasn't the end of the world, etc. She's the only one here on anti-depressants, so I thought she would have understood the most, instead she understood the least.
Ask your doc if he knows any good books or websites that you can show your wife. Or find one on your own, and tell her to read it and see if she thinks it sounds like you at all. You do not need to "man up" btw. That is a sexist term no matter who uses it or who they used it again. You're you. And there is nothing wrong with being you. __________________ "The time has come, the Walrus said, to talk of many things. Of shoes, of ships, of sealing wax, of cabbages, of kings!
