Hello & Welcome to PC!!

As you can see this forum doesn't get much traffic.
You might consider asking any of the Community Liason's,
or Moderators if they know of any.
You could Google & see what comes up.
If there is a hosp near you that has a library they might have some psych books. Try the public library, maybe they could order you something.
Otherwise I don't know of any, but haven't looked either.
The BPD forum usually has lots of people posting. You might find some similarities there.
Overall this is a really good place for support.
Take care.

Not too surprising that this forum moves a bit slow.

Sadly, I can't think of any about dealing with AvPD. I did a quick Google and found a couple... including this one. Which is supposed to be about overcoming it. Most of them are text books, though, and therefore fairly pricey.

There is very very little out there on being an Avoidant. What is out there is written by professionals that have learned about being an Avidant from a book.

Most of them are very long winded words that no one, but them and other professionals, know the meaning of.

Thanks. This is what I thought. I have looked before and found little to nothing. What is out there is written by professionals using big words that no one but them understand.

Its like these professionals write these books just so they can have bragging rights with their fellow professionals and put it on their book shelf.

Plus I think that it has all been pretty much said. As least as far as a professional perspective is concerned.

Professionals are good. Dont get me wrong. They offer good advice and have knowledge of stats and other things that are common to Avidants.

They can be a god sounding board and do listen. Though I often wonder if they mainly listen because they have too. They get paid very well.

I think Theodore Millon et al wrote a book called Personality disorders in modern life. Very interesting book. Google books may have it...
Then there's Distancing by Kantor...
Thanks for this!
