I suspect that I'm an AvPD, and I'm no don juan. Are there any male AvPDs who are don juans (had quite a few girlfriends or dated a lot)? I'm just wondering how that would work.

I had many girlfriends but only when I was drinking a lot. I was also married twice. In the end I pushed them all away when they tried to get too close. I hated doing things as a couple with others, I would rather it be just me and her doing things.
Since I quit drinking my APD kicked in with a vengeance. I did get married again about 8 years ago and she has accepted me for who I am. She knows I would always prefer to be home alone or at most both of us at home. So I am very lucky to have found the best of both worlds! |

When I was in high school, I dated a lot. I always ended up making an excuse to break it off when things started to get serious.
I'd either want to pursue other opportunities or like, needed space. Or whatever. I'm sure they thought I was a tool (or maybe that's my AvPD thinking that? ), but in reality, I was... avoiding romantic attachment. I haven't dated since I was 17, though. At all. It's pretty much the same. Avoiding the attachment, avoiding them, etc. __________________ Love is..
