I looked at a couple threads and realized I am right at home. I have trust issues, self esteem issues and at 66 I feel a lot of times like I am marking time just waiting to die, thsat my life is over as far as a fulfilling life. I have some things that are really good in my life but sometimes it still closes in on me. I am not suicidal or anything like that but depression and anxiety are a part of who I am. Just glad to be here

Hi Bill. Welcome to Psych Central (PC). I am so sorry you are suffering from depression and other challenges. Some people work with a therapist to talk things through or a psych doc to confirm diagnosis and prescribe meds to keep things stable.

Many people who are actively involved in Psych Central find it helps take them out of their own problems to develop empathy for others. And their problems though still there are more manageable.

The depression chat meets every Thursday night at 9-10PM EST. You need 5 posts or replies to other posts to use the chat room. Anxiety chat on Wednesday is similar if you can't swing Thursday night.

Glad you are joining us here. There are lots of compassionate people here that can make the load lighter by sharing and caring. Feel free to participate actively at Psych Central.

Some people find the forums give them the compassion and empathy they seek. http://forums.psychcentral.com

Please feel free to private message me or any of the Community Liaisons by left clicking on the name in blue to the left of their post) for questions or just to share.

Hi, Bill and welcome!
I want to tell you that there are many psychological problems that exhibit anxiety and depression symptoms. Many times, even proffessionals takes a long time to guess which are the roots of the problem.

Did you always feel like that?

Pretty much, I was picked on a lot in school as a child and that led to a lot of what I go through and have all my life. At times I am my own worst enemy and self destruct. That has been a theme through a lot of my life but am working on mindfulness with a therapist andhopefully some other things as well.

Hi Bill,
I can relate to you. I am self destructive at times, too. Recently had to give up alcohol because mixed with my meds it started making me suicidal. So glad I realized that. As you know I am new here, too. I hope you find what you are looking for here. This is a good place for support.

I need to be high to feel and act "normal" some days.

The thought of dodging the job, scares me.

But I feel like I just need to escape.....

God knows I've tried.
