WHY?????????? is it so hard to tend to hygiene? I feel so good after I do, so why is it so hard? My therapist says it's pretty typical.

Took one today and felt really good with some wonderful shower gel and lotion afterwards. But then got really sick from the spicy food earlier and threw it all up. UGH! What a way to ruin a good mood.

Oh absolutely! It really killed my mood. I don't know why, but I start coughing and can't stop to the point where I throw up. I have a history of acid reflux problems, so that is probably what caused it that particular day, on top of eating really spicy food.

The good news? I am on my way to accomplishing some wonderful goals in the following days, and I took a shower just now and I feel amazing! Granted it is almost 2am and it is fueling my mania a bit, but I do feel refreshed.

I just took one too!! Don't know why it is so hard. It was almost 2 weeks (gross) and I hadn't left the house because of it.

I took a shower today, but I didn't really feel proud of it. I didn't even use my wonderful lotions, or even pay attention to my face like I usually do.

Maybe its just an off day, or this bipolar nonsense and medication all messing with me today. I don't know.

I'm going to get up right now and take a full shower, but admit I really don't want to. It's so hard to explain why I don't. It's high time. I don't even remember the last time I washed my hair. I think I showered without washing my hair four days ago, but usually rather give myself a washcloth bath, if that, and only if I really feel stinky. Will report back here when I'm done.

Update: I just finished showering and got dressed. I still need to dry my hair. That will be done. I wish I could say I'm very happy I did it, but though I know it needed to be done, I would have preferred not to have.

I don't know if others feel this way, but it's hard for me to admit to my psychiatrist or therapist that I shower so infrequently. I do sometimes say that "I'm not doing very much self-care." But to say I haven't showered in a long time makes me feel that wish I wasn't sitting on their chair or sofa in such a state. But the thing is, usually I do shower either on the day of my appointment or at least the day before, so I use that as an excuse to avoid the topic. By the way, I happen to have both a psychiatrist and therapist appointment today.

It's funny. I don't worry that much about what my husband thinks. He's not stupid. He must know that I shower rarely. But he is not at all judgemental. I don't ever remember him ever saying "Honey you stink. Take a shower." I know some spouses might say that or privately feel disgusted by their spouse. Maybe because my husband is a Central European I don't worry as much. Some Central and Eastern Europeans back in the 1970s and before didn't always bathe daily. I'll admit that my husband does always shower M-Fs before work. But not on weekends, even not depressed, unless we go out to someplace very special or he worked up an extreme sweat.

Took one a little while ago. Feel a little better.

It wouldn't bother me to shower less except I sweat so much and I know I must reek. My husband doesn't notice, either, or if he does he doesn't say anything.

Took a nice long shower, but really need to my hair. Since getting off Depakote my hair has stopped falling out, but it has grown in all tangled and out of control. I really need to do something about it.

But on a good note, I feel MUCH better, I will admit that I have been falling back on taking a shower every day, so I might need to make more of an effort from now on.
