Hey, gang. Just wondering if anyone has an idea which of my meds might be most likely to cause new itching? The only new ones, new in last week or two, are Depakote and Thorazine. Itching really just got going inlast few days, I think.

Of course, as an old derm person, I do know about itching. But I don't know really anything about itching and these bipolar meds. Nothing at all.

Oh--it's sort of all over, but is really bad on my scalp. And I don't normally itch, just to clarify. No rash anywhere.

Hey bpcyclist -- rash or pruritus, or dry skin is considered an adverse response to a medication. Just an fyi. May want to stop the Depakote or Thorazine since those are brand new and you didn't itch like this before with your other meds.

I've experienced itchiness (mild, but definite) when starting certain new meds. Neither were the two you've mentioned, but I don't know if that matters. I believe that mild itchiness is a side effect of many meds - for me, it went away after a week or so after starting a new medication. I'd check your specific med side effects on google, but I believe there's reason to contact your pdoc only if there's severe itching and/or if you have a rash.

Yeah, the Thorazine is going into what our friends across the pond like to call The Rubbish Bin. Worthless. A waste of 65 bucks I could not afford.

Ugh, I'm sorry about the Thorazine. Imagine if meds that didn't work were returnable?

Wouldn’t it be great to just return meds? It’d save me lots of money!

Ugh! They are sooo expensive when you add them all up every month!!

Can't you order them from Canada? Everything is cheaper there.

Also, there are a ton of "prescription" discount cards you can use for your medications. These cards have websites where you can type in the name of your medication to verify it will be discounted at your pharmacy.

Just type "prescription cards" in Google and it will populate a gazillion websites. You'll have to sift through them and also call your pharmacy to find out if they offer or take specific brands of prescription cards. Might as well check and see, right?

I have never looked into the Canada thing. I know it was big a few years ago, but maybe there is money to be saved there still. I'll check it out. Thanks!!

I almost forgot the most important one. Each of your drugs manufacturer has a patient assistance program where you can apply to have your prescription for free for one entire year. These program are income based, etc. Check with your Pdoc or GP. Do an internet search by drug manufacturer. Hopefully you can find that info.

I was able to get Seroquel free for several years from Astro-Zeneca.
